GP based in the community of Borroloola 350 km east of the Daly Waters turnoff 972 km from Darwin or 90 minutes by air. Borroloola is located on the McArthur River, about 50 km upstream from the Gulf of Carpentaria. Borroloola lies on the traditional country of the Yanyuwa people, on the coastal plain between the Barkly Tablelands and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Rivers that run from the Tablelands escarpment to the Gulf regularly flood in the wet season, making travel on the unsealed section of Highway One along the coastal plain to Queensland impossible. The rivers of this region have carved spectacular gorges through sandstone deposits in their upper reaches. The rivers and coastal areas are host to barramundi, earning Borroloola a reputation among sports fisherman, and also to the deadly saltwater crocodile. The region has little rain from May to September and is characterised by lightly treed Savanna grasslands. It is located on the McArthur River, about 50 km upstream from the Gulf of Carpentaria. Population approximately 1609.

GP Based in the community of Jabiru located approximately 250km from Darwin by sealed road east of Darwin in Kakadu National Park. As the main town of World Heritage Kakadu National Park, there is a considerable tourist population, especially during the dry season. Population data is indicative only and may vary depending on seasonality and other factors.

Work is undertaken in a multi-disciplinary team delivering clinical and public health services to the residents of the Wadeye community and surrounding outstations. Clinical support is provided by the Aerial Medical Service telephone consultations and medical retrievals. Royal Darwin Hospital is the regional hospital and provides tertiary care.

Please note public holidays are not paid as Health Centre is closed. Primary Heath Care Nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners are the first respondents on-call, with the medical officer being called only if required or as advised by the Duty RMP on-call.
