Overview:

Charterhouse Medical are currently looking to speak with locum medical officers who would be interested in the following assignment.

Location: Blackwater, Queensland (QLD)
Level: FACRRM/FRACGP with strong ED experience
Area:  ED SMO 
Rate:  $2,500 Per Shift
Date Range: 01/02/2026 – Ongoing (Will consider partial availability)
Roster: Days & afternoons with on call
Travel/Accommodation/Hire car: Provided

Charterhouse Medical are seeking an experienced ED SMO (FACRRM/FRACGP) to support Blackwater Hospital (Central Queensland HHS) with urgent ongoing locum coverage from 02 February 2026 for the remainder of 2026.

Blackwater Hospital (Blackwater Multipurpose Health Service) is a well-supported rural facility providing 24/7 emergency care, alongside acute inpatient, aged care, visiting specialist services, mental health/psychiatric support and community clinics.

Blackwater is located in the Central Highlands, around 75 km (~1 hour) from Emerald, making it an accessible regional base with a strong community feel.

On your days off, you’ll be on the doorstep of classic Central QLD outdoor escapes, including Blackdown Tableland National Park with scenic lookouts and walking tracks.
This is a great opportunity for a confident rural clinician who can support the service across rostered shifts and associated on-call requirements (as per site roster).

Shift Structure:

•    Day Shift: 0730 – 1800
•    Afternoon Shift: 1200 – 2230, followed by on-call duty
•    On-Call Duty: 2230 – 0730 (following the afternoon shift)
