Job description
We are seeking a Staff Specialist – Psychiatrist who will work as part of the Mental Health Services team across the North West region.
Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the THS – North West has major sites located approximately 50km apart. Experience with Inpatient Mental Health and/or Adult Community Mental Health Services and/or Child and Adolescent Mental Health and/or Older Persons Mental Health would be highly regarded.
This position will be attractive to a highly skilled and motivated medical professional who views challenges as opportunities and is driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems. The right applicant will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels.
The successful candidates will provide specialist diagnosis, treatment and care for public patients. They will provide a consultative service in Psychiatry to other disciplines and to other health services in the area.
The rugged and beautiful North West Coast of Tasmania is a tourist mecca, has a strong agricultural sector, a developing innovative industrial sector and is positioned with airports and sea transport so it is very accessible to the rest of Tasmania and the Australian mainland.
Air travel from Devonport to Melbourne is less than one hour and relatively inexpensive. The property market with significantly lower prices than on mainland Australia, is attracting considerable interest from families and investors.
