Located 408 km northwest of Sydney (45 minutes by plane) in an attractive and progressive rural city (population 42,000). It is one of three major Health Service's within the Western NSW region, and is the district's major referral centre, serving approximately 160,000 people. 
 
The Role
The incumbent responsibilities in Obstetrics would be to take part in Antenatal clinics along with the junior trainees and staff specialists, to cover the labour ward on a 1:4 roster out of hours, to do outreach antenatal care in remote towns, take responsibility for Obstetric audits such as PPH and perineal trauma and organise and present at Morbidity & Mortality meetings, as well as arrange other educational meetings such as Journal Club. The Trainee will also be encouraged to attend conferences and workshops on high risk obstetrics, ultrasound and obstetric emergencies depending on their areas of interest. 

Gynaecology:
Attending Operating lists and working towards being a primary operator, to assist consultants especially in difficult case and to supervise junior trainees in theatre. Attendance at both hospital clinics and the assessment of acute gynaecological conditions on call will be required. The Trainee will be responsible for surgical Audit and presentation of interesting cases at unit meetings. 
There are two routine lists per week and contain a variety of surgical procedures including advanced laparoscopic surgery and pelvic floor surgery as well as complex intra-abdominal operations.
Outreach clinics may include visits to Walgett as well as Cobar & Bourke.
 
Job Requirements
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia 
Minimum four years Post Graduate experience with recent exposure to Obstetrics and Gynaecology
