Job description

  • Flexible work/life balance
  • Attractive Salary Package
  • Dynamic team environment

We have a number of doctors in training vacancies across Tasmania from Stage 1 to Stage 3 with opportunities to complete certificate programs in Adult, Child & Adolescent, Consultant Liaison, Old Age and Addiction Medicine.

The training program involves rotations between two sites and provides support with an excellent library of texts, a very good Formal Education Curriculum with invited interstate speakers and regular CME activities involving both trainees and Fellows of the College.

The training Program is small but has the advantages of very strong consultant support and ready access to supervisors, an excellent exam pass rate, and frequent interaction with the Director of training and Deputy Directors of training.

There are 2 Deputy Directors, one based in Launceston and one based in Hobart who play an active role in registrar training.  One of the advantages of a small program is that the consultant psychiatrists are committed, available and actively involved with registrar training and assist with exam preparation with supportive mentoring.

There is a very strong Branch Training Committee which provides overview of the Training program, assists with allocations of rotations, and upholds College policies and procedures all under the auspices of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Current Medical Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Currently enrolled in RANZCP accredited training program, or looking to do so
