The Position:

This is an incredible opportunity to work as a General Medicine Advanced Trainee Registrar at one of Victoria’s largest facilities.  This position offers broad clinical exposure, excellent supervision, and strong support for career progression in General Medicine.

The position will work closely with one of three inpatient general medical teams—Gastroenterology, Neurology/Renal, or Endocrinology—each staffed by Interns, HMOs, and a Basic Physician Trainee (BPT).

Opportunities to manage complex and undifferentiated acute medical cases in the Acute Medical Unit. Additionally, this position provides a varied and fulfilling experience, offering exposure to a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Daily consultant-led ward rounds are a key component of the role, and based on the trainee’s experience, there may be opportunities to lead rounds under supervision.

Hours per fortnight: 86 (inclusive of 10 hours training time)
Employment Status: 12-month full time Registrar position commencing February 2026

The Facility:

This 400+ bed health service is the major healthcare provider in the region and is the principle referral hospital for the entire region.  The health care service delivers a comprehensive range of services to the region, including emergency care, maternity and women’s health, medical imaging, pathology, rehabilitation, community health services, residential aged care, psychiatric care, community dental services, hospice and palliative care, cardiology, cancer treatment, and renal dialysis.

Providing health care to:

•    More than 60,000 emergency attendances
•    Delivering around 1,600 babies 
•    Accepts more than 110,000 medical images each year

Eligibility:

1.    General, Provisional or limited registration with AHPRA or eligible to obtain
2.    IMG’s that have completed at least the AMC MCQ (part 1) or completed both AMC 1 & 2 (clinical exam)
3.    IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)
4.    IMG’s assessed by RACP College as partially or substantially comparable (doctors currently interviewing with  RACP may express their interest)
5.    Have experience working as a General Medicine Registrar
