As part of the rostered clinical services team, the Clinical Director provides clinical leadership for mental health drug and alcohol services. Heading up the medical team, this position is responsible for assisting the Director MHDA to ensure that clinical programs across the LHD are contemporary, evidence based and recovery focussed.
The Far West Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Service provides a range of services and programs for people living in Broken Hill, Balranald, Ivanhoe, Menindee, Tibooburra, Wentworth, Wilcannia and surrounding areas. Most of the services are based in Broken Hill, with some outreach clinics in other towns.
The Broken Hill Hospital has 100 beds that services a wide area with a population of 25,000 people. It is a rural teaching hospital, providing acute, non-acute and outpatient services, including dialysis and chemotherapy. It has an emergency department, general medical, surgical, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatric, mental health and sub-acute beds. Work is underway to enhance the level of ICU and CCU. Support services include Pathology, Medical Imaging (CT scan), as well as a wide range of Allied and Primary Health services.
