The Position:

This is an incredible opportunity to work as an O&G Registrar at one of Victoria’s largest facilities. The role will provide clinical support to the service across all elements of patient care and to enable the individual to progress their training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The O&G department sees approximately 1300 deliveries each year, and has multiple gynaecology theatre sessions each week. Key responsibilities will include - attendance at ante-natal and gynaecology outpatients. In addition the position will involve labour ward and providing assistance in theatre and undertake surgical procedures (under supervision).

It is suitable for a doctor who has SIMG training and requires a period of consultant supervision to obtain further qualifications in Australia.

Situated within a 90-minute drive from the bustling Melbourne, this location serves as the economic hub of the Central Highlands. This area is synonymous with great culinary offerings and fine wines and boasts some of Australia’s finest grammar schools. The city offers a blend of urban and rural living, an array of amenities and is a prominent tourist destination. Combine this with its bustling arts and culture scene, fine food and wine, and acclaimed festivals and attractions, and you have a solid foundation off which to build your new life.

The Facility:

This 350+ bed health service is the major healthcare provider in the region and is the principle referral hospital for the entire region. It provides general and specialty medical and surgical services, emergency and intensive care, residential aged care, rehabilitation, oncology, mental health, maternity, paediatric services, and Hospital in the Home (HITH).

The facility is undertaking major investments, the new tower – set for completion in 2027 – will include a new emergency department, women and children’s hub, state-of-the-art theatre suite, 100 additional inpatient and short stay beds and the new helipad.

Eligibility:

1. General, Provisional or limited registration with AHPRA or eligible to obtain

2. IMG’s that have completed at least the AMC MCQ (part 1) or completed both AMC 1 & 2 (clinical exam)

3. IMG’s eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada or Ireland)

4. IMG’s assessed by RANZCOG College as partially or substantially comparable (doctors currently interviewing with RANZCOG may express their interest)

5. IMG’s interested in foreign training via the Short Term training specialist pathway (STT)

6. Have experience working as an O&G Registrar
