An Opportunity has arisen for a Psychiatrist to join the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
The Youth Early Psychosis Program (hYEPP) is a Commonwealth funded program for young people aged 12-25 years, experiencing a first psychotic episode, or at ultra-high risk of developing a psychotic disorder. This program is delivered through three Western Sydney YEPP is an integrated and comprehensive early intervention service, based on the Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) model of Orygen Youth Health.
The service has 4 consultant psychiatrist positions, 4 full time Registrars and a Clinical Director. there will be a vacancy for the Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) at Mt Druitt headspace. The team provides intake triage, assessment and community based treatment, before transferring the young person to one of the three Continuing Care Teams for up to five years. These young people have access to a functional recovery program that includes a suite of psychosocial groups, education support and job placement. The team is co-located at the program hub at Mt Druitt, which is central to the catchment area and spokes at Penrith and Parramatta.
The consultant psychiatrist positions are important leadership roles within hYEPP. There are significant opportunities for innovative service development and research in collaboration with Orygen and the universities of Western Sydney and Sydney. You would supervise one Registrar and participate in an active training program. Flexible hours can be negotiated.
