Locum General Psychiatrist required for 4 days per week, for a 3 month role based in Sydney Metro. The role is based in the Early Youth Psychosis service.
The Program is a Commonwealth funded program for young people aged 12-25 years, experiencing a first psychotic episode, or at ultra-high risk of developing a psychotic disorder. This programis an integrated and comprehensive early intervention service, based on the Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre (EPPIC) model of Orygen Youth Health.
The service has 4 consultant psychiatrist positions, 4 full time Registrars and a Clinical Director. The team provides intake triage, assessment and community based treatment, before transferring the young person to one of the three Continuing Care Teams for up to five years. These young people have access to a functional recovery program that includes a suite of psychosocial groups, education support and job placement.
The consultant psychiatrist positions are important leadership roles. There are significant opportunities for innovative service development and research in collaboration with Orygen and the universities of Western Sydney and Sydney. You would supervise one Registrar and participate in an active training program. Flexible hours can be negotiated.
Applicants should be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or an equivalent postgraduate specialist qualification. We hope to have the position recruited by the start of the next Registrar term from August 6, 2018.
