Consultant Anaesthetist

Job description

• The team currently comprises of four Staff Specialist Anaesthetists who provide anaesthetics for elective and emergency theatre cases
• Provide a high level, clinical anaesthetic service to patients in the local district
• Participate in the provision of high quality, efficient specialist clinical anaesthetic services to patients, including participation in the on-call anaesthetic roster

Overview:

The Department of Anaesthetics is a small cohesive team. The team currently comprises of four Staff Specialist Anaesthetists who provide anaesthetics for elective and emergency theatre cases, as well as the Intensive Care Unit and the hospital Pre-Admission clinic. The Department is looking for additional staff to join the team.

Approximately 1 hour by plane to Melbourne (540km) and Adelaide (390km). Our airport is one of the busiest regional airports and is serviced by Qantas, Virgin and REX airlines. The region has the perfect Mediterranean climate with high numbers of sunny days perfect for relaxing by the River and visiting our numerous cafes and restaurants. Vibrant markets and shopping district, excellent sporting and cultural facilities, hosts numerous festivals and has many high performing public and private schools

Selection Criteria:

Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (or eligible to register) · Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent specialist qualifications · Extensive experience in the practice of anaesthetics, training and commitment to continuing medical education
