Job description

  • $2000 per day plus super or VMO hourly award via ABN

Successful candidates to the position will be working   Within the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) the Psychiatrist works primarily with the Assertive Response Outreach (ARO) team and supports overall service delivery in CYMHS.

  • Occupies a key leadership role within CYMHS and is committed to interprofessional learning and practice
  • Conducts, supervises, advises on and learns from the assessment, formulation, care and plan for disposition of persons presenting to CYMHS and their families/social networks
  • Draws on therapeutic principles to engage the person in their family and social context where possible in their local community in an environment that is experienced as familiar and safe
  • Supports assertive and timely delivery of service in a way that minimises obstacles to accessing care, draws on the wisdom of the recipients of care as well as the clinical team, and is informed by the priorities and strengths of the person and their family/social network
  • Contributes to the ARO model of care and other models of care within CYMHS so that the service adapts to the needs of the community
  • Contributes to and abides by role descriptors as presented in the ARO model of care
  • Actively participates in quality, safety and governance activities relating to ARO and CYMHS
  • Fosters and contributes to dialogue and a shared learning environment for all employees of ARO and CYMHS
  • Advocates for the contribution and potential of ARO
  • Fosters an approach to engagement and care delivery that is psychotherapeutic, relational and nonpathologising and that draws on the resources of the person and their family/social network
  • Forms meaningful partnerships with other teams and units of the Mental Health Service (such as other CYMHS teams, the Triage and Assessment Centre, Access) and other services within the Local Health District (such as Women’s and Children’s Health) so that challenges can be faced collaboratively and learning shared
  • Supports research and practice initiatives relevant to the development, model of care and vision of the team.
